Booth at Silver Diner Posted by Picasa

Ryan brought "Fudge" home from Ms. Deon's kindergarten class this weekend. He's supposed to take the stinky stuffed animal whereever he goes. Last night we went to Silver Diner for dinner. Posted by Picasa

Tears In Heaven

I have a new guitar teacher, named Mike Melchione (he works at Music & Arts in Oakton). He's a very, very good teacher, and I've already learned a ton from him after only a couple of weeks.

Tonight I meet with him and he's going to expect me to play the licks from Tears In Heaven, the song Eric Clapton wrote back in the 90's. Mike taught me the general idea of it last week, and I picked up an EC book to try an nail it down.

The first couple of days I was money, then I slacked off. Now I've got the jitters because I really want him to be impressed so he'll keep pushing me forward. I'm a huge EC fan and would love to start learning a bunch of his blues songs. Problem is I'm so tired at night that I have to push myself just to pick up the guitar.

The lesson will motivate me for a couple of days.

B.B. King Posted by Picasa
Somehow I got 4th row seats from Ticketmaster to the B.B. King concert at Dar Constitution Hall a couple weeks ago, and took my Brother-In-Law, Brett. We sat next to Marion Barry and his wife, which is funny because that's not the first time we've sat next to Mrs. Barry (funny story, ask me sometime).

The show was a bit below-average, because it was much less polished than any other concerts I've seen, but I'm sure that's just the nature of the music. Also at the show was Bobby "Blue" Bland, who is way too old to be touring.

All in all, I'm glad I went. B.B. is 80 years old, you know. I'm still kicking myself for not seeing Ray Charles before he died last year.

It occurs to me that Ryan hasn't been properly represented lately, so here goes. Posted by Picasa
